Slipping In and Out

Time changes us all, it even changed the city of Banaras. But in the midst of all the ravages of the clock the famous Bhang Lassi seems to be a timeless reprieve for the curious trotter. Here Gayle is seen sipping on a lassi, in a tie-and-dye kaftan by Aseem Kapoor.

Magazine

We like to think of Object as a fashion magazine for the bookish, where reporters, academics, writers and artists focus on a region and discover its textiles and crafts. The stories published lie at the intersection of lifestyle, society and economic development. From lost village looms to emerging urban ateliers, our stories bring you India refashioned. Hand-bound and hardback, the magazine is published every quarter.

About JoB

What is journey of Objects?

Journey of Objects is what happens when journalism and e-commerce meet on a platform that celebrates the richness of India. Our team of reporters travel the country, discovering weaves and crafts, while our designers work with artisans. The outcome is a new form of storytelling, one that you can wear, smell, taste, see and, of course, read.

Images from first to last: A nomadic loom used for kharad weaving in Kutch, Gujarat; chief reporter Alia Allana in conversation with Tejsi Dhanaji, a master weaver in Kutch; an investigation into craft in the face of rapid industrialisation published in Issue I; the Object camel bag woven on a 400-year-old nomadic loom with broken glass embroidery.
